What's the difference between a car degreaser and an engine degreaser?

A car degreaser is generally formulated for removing grease, oil and road grime from automotive vehicle surfaces, while an engine degreaser may be stronger and designed to tackle heavy oil and grease around the engine bay. A single product may do all of the above, so check the label of individual products.

Can I use a heavy duty engine degreaser on painted panels?

Heavy-duty engine degreasers may be too harsh for painted panels and could affect the finish. Look for a car degreaser or car wash chemical cleaner that specifically states it is suitable for exterior surfaces such as panels. 

How do I dilute a concentrated auto degreaser correctly?

Follow the manufacturer's recommended dilution ratio, as the correct concentration can vary depending on the product and level of soiling. For heavier grease and grime, a less diluted solution may be recommended. 

Is it safe to spray degreaser directly onto a hot engine?

Applying cleaner to a hot engine can cause the product to spit back on the user, dry too quickly or increase the risk of surface damage. Unless otherwise stated in the instructions, it is best to use car degreasers on a cooled engine only.
